Long?Term Rain Attenuation Measurement for Short?Range mmWave Fixed Link Using DSD and ITU?R Prediction Models

Several millimeter Wave (mmWave) bands, which suffer from rain attenuation, were identified in the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19) for fifth generation (5G) radio networks. In this paper, long-term attenuation is measured over typical building to links built environment, constitute two 36 m along a direct link and an indirect side at 25.84 77.54 GHz 200 77.125 GHz. The was also estimated using precipitation data high end accurate disdrometer weather station drop size distribution International Telecommunication Union (ITU) models. results indicate that Mie theory agreement with ITU model most of rainfall events; higher being than predicted when snow grains raindrops mix. Raindrops diameter between 0.1 4 mm dominant have considerable influence on especially light moderate events. maximum distance factor restriction 2.5 ITU-R P.530-17 shown not be suitable short-range fixed as it excessively underestimates attenuation.
